Orapa tourism welcomes you to the Boteti Region!

Orapa is a town in the Central District of Botswana. It is home to the Orapa diamond mine, the largest open pit diamond-producing mine in the world. The Orapa Game Park is home to the endangered black and white rhino.

Day 1 Arrival in Letlhakane from Maun airport by road transfer

Guests will travel by a comfortable quantum minibus from Maun to Thakadu Hotel in Letlhakane. The hotel, which has recently been refurbished, offers guests comfortable rooms with beautiful views of the swimming pool area. Located in the outskirts of Letlhakane, the hotel provides a peaceful ambiance. The hotel is the only hotel in Letlhakane with a casino and conference centre. It is a good place for guests to start their holiday before proceeding to the exclusive camps. On the day of arrival guests will relax and unwind by the poolside. In the evening they will enjoy a deliciously prepared dinner at the hotel restaurant.

NB.Guests also have the option to stay at a guest house in Letlhakane if they would prefer that option.

Breakfast in the morning

After breakfast you will start your morning activities with an informative and once in a life time experience of the Orapa Mine tour, here you actually get to see and hear the mining process. This is the only mine that offers tours while it is still operational. You will leave here wanting more.

Upon your return from the mine tour you will then get to tour the museum. Here you will get to see Botswana’s sparkly diamond. Enjoy some lunch. You will end your day in Orapa with a game drive.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a game drive at the Orapa Game Park, where you will possibly get to see Rhino (black and white), impala, wildebeest, giraffe, warthog amongst a whole lot of wildlife and birds. Your guide will also give you some educational pointers on outdoor survival skills and tell you a thing or two about the vegetation in the park. You will be served some refreshments.

You will proceed back to your hotel. You will spend another night at Thakadu Hotel.

In the morning you will have breakfast before you go on to your next destination by road transfer. You will travel by minibus to Khumaga. Here our team from Leroo La Tau will meet you to take you to the beautiful lodge.

Day 3: Leroo La Tau, Boteti River – Makgadikgadi Pans National Park welcomes you!

Boteti River – Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

On the western boundary of the renowned Makgadikgadi Pans National Park lies the Boteti River. Owing to the arid nature of the park, the river and the nutrient-rich western grasslands supply the essential water and sustenance for the wildlife that inhabit the region. The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is home to the second largest zebra migration in the world, where thousands of zebra migrate to the Boteti River in the dry winter months (May to Oct) from their summer grazing ground further inside the park. The fascinating contrast between the Boteti River Valley and arid National Park makes it a fascinating region to include in any Botswana safari. 

Overnight: Leroo La Tau

Leroo La Tau rises majestically above the Boteti River Valley which stretches across the western border of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Leroo La Tau comprises of just 12 thatched luxury chalets all overlooking the magnificent Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, each with en-suite bathrooms. There is a dining room, reading room and bar in the main lodge, expansive wooden decks, a viewing hide and a swimming pool where guests can immerse themselves seamlessly into the ultimate wildlife experience in Botswana. Having explored the area and enjoyed a spectacular wildlife phenomenon on guided game drives, guests can retire after dinner to a splendid fireplace overlooking the river.

Day 5: Camp Xakanaxa, Moremi Game Reserve

Moremi Game Reserve Situated in the east of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It covers more than 4871 square kilometres of pristine wilderness, and the varied terrain includes savannah, winding waterways, and dense forest. This diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife, ranging from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, lion, cheetah and packs of wild dog in the open grasslands. The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 bird species recorded on Botswana’s national bird list. 

Overnight: Camp Xakanaxa (or Camp Moremi)

Camp Xakanaxa is located on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve. It offers guests an authentic, year round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience. The camp accommodates twenty four guests in twelve spacious all canvas, classic Meru style luxury safari tents, with en suite bathrooms. Situated around the fringe of the lagoon, every tent has a private viewing deck with comfortable loungers. The stylish main buildings extend over the river and are set on raised platforms to maximize the views over the river and islands. The elegant lounge and dining rooms, built of local timber, reed and thatch, feature a small library, expansive sundeck, plunge pool and sala with day bed. 

Overnight: Camp Moremi (alternative to Camp Xakanaxa)

Camp Moremi has a well-deserved legacy in the Botswana tourism industry for being able to deliver the classic African safari experience. Recently completely rebuilt, Camp Moremi is located within Botswana’s world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, situated on the edge of the Xakanaxa Lagoon in an area known for its spectacular game-viewing opportunities Game drives conducted in open 4×4 vehicles in the morning and late afternoons offer excellent game viewing including frequent sightings of lion, leopard and wild dog. Alternatively, guest can explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by boating safari.

Day 8 & 9: Chobe Savanna Lodge, Chobe River Front Namibia

Chobe River Front Namibia Forming the boundary between Botswana and Namibia is the Chobe River – one of the most well-known perennial rivers in Africa. The Chobe River Front encompasses vast floodplains fringed by lush riverine woodlands. The abundant wildlife inhabiting the river and its shores can be viewed from a river safari where visitors can spot elephants, hippo, water-loving antelope including the rare Puku and a variety of other game such as lion, giraffe, zebra, leopard and buffalo. Nature lovers will delight in the incredibly scenic natural landscapes and bird watchers can look forward to the wide section of bird species which can be spotted along the river banks. 

Chobe Savanna Lodge

Set in a classic African savanna environment with sweeping vistas, the focal point of the lodge is a thatched open sided lodge which commands a 270 degree view over the Chobe River and beyond to the Chobe National Park. With just 12 en-suite guest rooms, Chobe Savanna Lodge offers an exclusive, all-inclusive luxury Chobe safari. With the Chobe River the focus of the Chobe Savanna Lodge experience, guests can enjoy the exceptional wildlife that frequents the rivers banks from morning and afternoon boat cruises. Day 10 depart Kasane Airport

Guests will make a morning activity and then have b/fast. Then they will head to the Kasane Airport to connect and proceed with their journey.
